Abandoned boat on Lake Muskoka near Baxter Island set adrift, say police
BRACEBRIDGE – An abandoned boat found floating in LakeMuskoka Tuesday has police looking for its owner and the circumstances around why is was apparently set adrift.
Police said Tuesday that members of the Bracebridge OPP marine unit are investigating a recovered partially submerged pleasure craft near Baxter Island on Lake Muskoka.
On October 8 the OPP headed out on the water after receiving a call concerning a vessel that was observed abandoned floating around LakeMuskoka.
Police located the vessel which appeared to have been set adrift, and was heavily damaged.
The OPP was towed the damaged boat to shore.
Pride of Muskoka Marine helped volunteer their services to remove the vessel from the water, as fuel was observed leaking out from a gas line on the boat.
The investigation is ongoing.
