Municipal clerks, treasury department workers convene in Gravenhurst for fall training
GRAVENHURST – Senior municipal bureaucrats – the staff who run local government - met here last week to exchange notes and network.
Forty municipal clerks, treasury department workers were in Gravenhurst for training and information sessions.
The Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO) held its Zone 5 fall meeting at the Muskoka Boat and Heritage Centre – Grace and Speed at The Muskoka Wharf.
Attendees came as far away as PrinceEdwardCounty and Napanee, to not only participate in professional training sessions, but to enjoy the beauty of Gravenhurst and the MuskokaWharf, in particular Grace and Speed facility.
AMCTO is broken into nine (9) zones and Zone 5 is comprised of the Counties of Haliburton, Hastings, Lennox and Addington, Northumberland, Peterborough, Prince Edward, Distict of Muskoka and the City of Kawartha Lakes.
Twenty delegates stayed overnight at the Marriott.
“It is great to be able to showcase our great community and wonderful facilities in both the museum and the Marriott. Hopefully we’ll see many return visitors who will want to explore more of the sites and activities the Town offers, as a result,” said Past Zone 5 Chair, and Director of Legislative Services/Town Clerk, Candace Thwaites.
