Midland man, 31, dies after vehicle he was passenger in hits rock cut south of Gravenhurst Sunday morning
GRAVENHURST – A Midland man is dead after the northbound vehicle he was passenger in hit a rock cut on Hwy. 11 south of Gravenhurst Sunday afternoon.
Police say they are investigating after the single motor vehicle crash on Highway 11 northbound in Gravenhurst, which left one person dead and one occupant with serious injuries.
They say that on November 3, 2013 at approximately 1:55 a.m. members of the Bracebridge OPP responded to the scene of the crash on Highway 11 northbound at Ure Road in the town of Gravenhurst.
A single vehicle was found crashed into a rock cut, with no other vehicles involved.
The 31-year-old passenger Michael Michalek, of Midland, was killed in the collision.
The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries.
The Highway was temporarily closed for the investigation conducted by members of the Bracebridge OPP detachment and Technical Collision Investigators (TCI). The Highway was opened shortly after.
The investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the collision.
