New Year’s Eve partying leads to multiple stabbing, Bracebridge man charged
HUNTSVILLE – A Bracebridge man has been charged with assault after an ongoing argument during partying the night before New Year’s Eve resulted in another male being stabbed multiple times.
Police say that on December 31, 2014, just after 1 a.m. Huntsville OPP were called after a male had been stabbed during a house party on Seeley’s Road in Huntsville.
Muskoka EMS, along with Huntsville OPP, attended the home and found a 38-year-old male victim, who was transported to a local hospital.
Muskoka Crime Unit along with Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) assisted in the investigation.
Police say a group of people were celebrating at a couple of different local establishments in the town of Huntsville, and the party eventually ended up back at a residence.
Two males had been arguing during the evening that eventually turned into a physical fight, which then led to one of the males being stabbed several times.
Wesley Bertin, 24 years, of Bracebridge was located arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault under the Criminal Code of Canada.
He was held for a bail and appeared in Bracebridge court on December 31, 2013 to answer to his charges, and will return back to court in Bracebridge on January 2, 2014.
The victim was transferred to a Toronto hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
