$50,000 vehicle fire in Huntsville after blow torch used to warm up truck

HUNTSVILLE - The recent cold weather has caused an increase in fire calls as residents are trying many different ways to get vehicles warmed up, thaw frozen pipes or heating systems are working to their maximum.

Huntsville/Lake Of Bays Fire Department asking everyone to use caution when working with any heating equipment or devices and never leave them unattended.

Chief Stephen Heren says over the holidays fire crews were called to a residence where a propane touch was being used to warm up a frozen truck, which resulted in the truck catching fire  and spreading to adjacent vehicle, causing over $50,000 damage.

Luckily no one was injuried, says Hernen in a news release.
