New Year’s Levees this weekend with Miller, Clement, Smith

BRACEBRIDGEWant to start the year off by bending the ear of your municipal, provincial or federal politician?

Three New Year’s Levees offer you a chance.

Saturday Jan, 4 is your best bet.

MPP Norm Miller and MP Tony Clement will be at the Stockey Centre in Parry Sound from 1-3 p.m.

You can ask Miller about a provincial election this spring; or ask Clement for one of his gold-plated business cards.

Sunday the Conservative pals will be holding court at the Bracebridge Rotary Centre, same times.

Also, Saturday Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith and members of town council invite residents and visitors to celebrate a ‘family-friendly’ start to 2014 at the Mayor’s Levee at the Bracebridge Sportsplex (Main Lobby) from 2. to 4 p.m.

A New Year’s levee is a traditional reception held by many municipalities in Canada. The Levee provides a chance for members of the local government to meet and mingle with citizens and reflect on the accomplishments of the past year, while welcoming the opportunities for the year ahead.

Join the Mayor and Council in light refreshments, music, and an opportunity to wish our neighbours and friends a Happy New Year. Complimentary festive refreshments including hot chocolate and sweet trays will be available from Oliver’s Coffee Muskoka. Live music will be performed by BMLSS students Spencer Nicholson and Liam Prymak.

We will also be collecting donations of non-perishable food items in support of the Bracebridge Manna Food Bank. Such items as: Canned goods (fish, juice, meat, milk, pasta, pasta sauce, vegetables); Dried Goods (rice, crackers, cereal, pasta, macaroni and cheese); and Staples (white sugar, flour, powdered milk, peanut butter, jam, baby formula). Help Drive Hunger Away!

Media interviews will be held after the levee.

The family-friendly event marks Mayor Smith’s third New Year’s levee with the Town of Bracebridge.

The Town of Bracebridge wishes you the best of the festive season and looks forward to seeing you on January 4!
