Bracebridge mom, 2-year-old son identified as victims in Huntsville trailer fire Saturday

HUNTSVILLE – A young Bracebridge mom and her 2-year-old son have been identified as the victims of a house fire here early Saturday morning.

Police say that on 11, 2014. just before 2 a.m. the OPP, Huntsville Fire and Muskoka EMS were called to the structure fire on Hoodstown Road in Huntsville.

Emergency services arrived to find that three people were inside a trailer that was parked in the driveway at the residence when the fire started.

A male managed to escape, but the other two were unable to get out.

The male, who suffered severe burns, was transported to HuntsvilleMemorialHospital, then to a Toronto hospital by land ambulance.  

The victims have been identified as Brittney Hawkins, 21, of Bracebridge,. and her son, Kayl Wolfe, 2.

The 23-year-old male is still recovering in a Toronto hospital.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office, Coroner’s office, Muskoka Crime Unit, and Central Region Forensic Identification Unit  are working together to determine the cause of the fatal fire.
