Hunter fined $2,500 for having illegal cow moose without a tag

PARRY SOUND – A local hunter is starting the year lighter in the pocketbook and with less in his freezer.

Parry Sound resident Donald Brownley was convicted of illegally possessing a cow moose, and has been fined $2,500 for possessing illegally killed wildlife.

The Ontario Court of Justice heard that Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers received information that a cow moose was mistakenly shot as a calf moose in CarlingTownship.

Following an investigation by officers, it was confirmed that the moose was shot illegally and that Brownley had it in his possession.
