Missing First Nations woman being sought in Midland area

PENETANGUISHENE – Police are helping to find a missing First Nations woman who went to nearby Midland to shop and has not been seen since Friday morning.

Police say that on January 31, at about 5:30 p.m., OPP at Southern Georgian Bay responded to a report that a female was missing from her residence on Church Street in the Town of Penetanguishene.

They are asking for the assistance of the public in locating Leah Copegog, 31.

She is described as about 5-foot-5 tall, 260 pounds, with long black hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing a black hoodie with white lettering on it and black pants.

She was last seen on January 31st, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. as she left her residence heading to the Town of Midland to go shopping.

Police have concerns for her welfare and say they need to locate her for medical reasons.
