Train hits car stalled on Torrance tracks

TORRANCE – A car that stalled on the railroad tracks just after noon Tuesday was struck by a train after the occupants of the vehicle were unable to push it clear.

Police say emergency services were still on the scene as of 4 p.m. investigating the crash on Neals Road, in Torrance.

They says that on February 4 at approximately 12:30 p.m. the vehicle was travelling on Neals Road over the train tracks when it stalled.

The occupants of the vehicle tried push the vehicle off of the tracks but were unsuccessful.

The train could not stop in time and hit the vehicle pushing it deep into the ditch.

There was no one inside the vehicle at the time, and no one was injured in the crash, said police in a late afternoon news release.

The vehicle has been removed from the ditch and the train has been moved.
