Fraser, Girard folk duo at Muskoka Place Gallery March 29

PORT CARLING — Muskoka Place Gallery & Brandy Creek Music will be hosting a coffee house featuring  a return of fan favourite, Allan Fraser, known best as half of the influential folk duo Fraser & DeBolt , and Canadian Folk Music Awards nominee, Marianne Girard.

Many artists have recorded Fraser’s songs such as Tom Russell, John Oates, The Duhks, Penny Lang and many others. The New York Times describes Fraser’s songs as gypsy theatre “…with this range of feeling, dense imagery and unexpected depth, their words may well find a place in the oral tradition of poetry….”

Girard wrote and performed the theme song for the United Nations Peace Conference. Marianne’s lyrics paint vibrant landscapes, firing up senses with “…a deep understanding of the human condition, a spectacular voice, and irresistible rootsy grooves…” Greg Quill, Toronto Star.

Girard and Fraser started performing together last August. This is a collaboration you do not want to miss. So come on out and enjoy an evening of Canadian Folk music.

Doors open at 8 p.m., admission is $10 dollars and refreshments are by donation.
