Speeder charged with impaired driving in Lake of Bays

LAKE OF BAYS — A speeding driver was charged with impaired operation of a vehicle after his truck was stopped late last Friday night.

Police say that on Friday March 21, 2014 just before 11 p.m. officers were on patrol on South Portage Road in the Township of Lake of Bays.

The officers observed a pickup truck travelling at a higher rate of speed than normal and managed to get the vehicle stopped.

The driver Kimberley Benedetti, 56, of Huntsville, was found to have been drinking.

He was eventually arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and having more than 80mgs of alcohol per 100mltrs of blood.

He was also issued a 90-day driving suspension and had his vehicle impounded for 7 days.

The accused is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Huntsville on April 2, 2014 to answer to his charges.
