Walker’s Point Community Library column
By Adele Fairfield
Spring seems to be a definite possibility. The sun is shining and warm, the days are longer and you library is getting ready for a busy season.
In a recent check of statistics it was found that from a start of 50 members about 21/2 years ago we now have 250 members. Thank you for this ongoing support. We’ll continue to try to earn it.
In order to keep improving service to those of you who are enjoying your community library we invite you to see the improvements to the website. You will see the newest books displayed there, you can scroll to see them or you are able to search the catalogue for your favourite books. While there be sure to scroll down to see what’s happening in our community. You will find historical pictures, data and maps all to keep you up to date on our community.
A new cupboard has been opened in the library and contains the large selection of DVD’s we have had donated. New DVD’s are on our shopping list to meet the requests we have for them and we hope to build an enjoyable collection for your use.
We will be running the summer children’s program again this year so keep watching for news on this.
Don’t forget to check out the new snowshoe and hiking trails at the community centre. Trails developed by two members of our community are getting a great deal of use in this extended winter. These trails are getting well deserved praise from those using them so please come out and explore the woods.
The firefighters are hosting a fund raising event to benefit a family in our community. Please keep April 26 in mind for a spaghetti dinner and silent auction.
New books in this past week are:
Gods of Guilt Michael Connelly
Be careful What you Wish For Jeffrey Archer
Only Time Will Tell
The Traitor’s Wife Allison Pataki
The Orenda Joseph Boyden
Sycamore Row John Grisham
Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth Chris Hadfield
I am Malala M. Yousafzai and Christian Lamb
David and Goliath Malcolm Gladwell
The Goldfinch Donna Tart

Please drop in and visit any time you are here.
We love to see you.
