Spring thaw claims first culvert in Gravenhurst

GRAVENHURST — Spring’s first water hazard has emerged here with large culvert break.

Town of Gravenhurst officials said Monday that traffic on Muskoka Road 17, south of Ennis Bay Road will be restricted to one lane due to a culvert failure.

Motorists should be mindful of the hazard and use caution when travelling in or through this area.

They urge drivers use courtesy by yielding to oncoming traffic signs and overnight warning lights have been erected.

Town crews will be monitoring the culvert throughout the evening and until such time as the culvert has been repaired.

The Town and District crews are making every effort to have the 1.3m x 25m corrugated steel pipe culvert replaced, as soon as possible.
