Gravenhurst Horticulture plant sale May 17, gardening tips May 20

GRAVENHURST — Need a head-start on spring planting — and a tip or two?

The Gravenhurst Horticutural Society’s Annual Plant and Bake Sale takes place on Sat. May 17 from 8:15 a.m.-12 noon at the Opera House Heritage Square on Muskoka Rd., S. Rain or shine! Great selection of plants, including perennials; special varieties of canna lilies; tomatoes and other hot house grown, well-established seedlings, ready for planting. Get your homemade baking and your plants. Enjoy a coffee and a visit. Don’t miss it!

 Spring pruning and garden tips

Brian Kelly, of Muskoka Stone & Garden, will be doing a presentation on Getting Your Garden Going and Spring Pruning tips at the Gravenhurst Horticultural  meeting on Tuesday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gravenhurst Seniors Centre, 480 First St. S.

Brian and June Kelly have owned Muskoka Stone & Garden, a full service garden centre and landscape company, Hwy 11 South of Gravenhurst since 1999.

Cost: Members: $2; guests: $5.

Yearly membership is $10.00 (plus $2 for hall rental at each of the 9 meetings) or you can attend meetings as a guest for $5 each meeting. There are 9 meetings with great speakers, hands-on demonstrations, flower and vegetable show, a summer members BBQ and many other events. Also discounts at nurseries and garden centres.

Join up, green thumbs not required! Meetings end with sweets, refreshments and a social time. All are welcome.
