Erhu master George Gao wraps up MCA season Friday

GRAVENHURST — The Muskoka Concert Association wraps up its season by expanding its classical repertoire to include the return of a master of the erhu.

George Gao returns to the Gravenhurst Opera House for Muskoka Concert Association's final show Friday night, May 9.

Hailed as one of the most exciting, innovative and respected erhu players today, George Gao is an enthusiast of many musical styles.

He has pioneered the development of new music for the erhu, fusing traditional Chinese music with jazz, western, classical, new age and music from different world cultures. According to association president Diane Harrop, “this will be an exciting and dramatic” conclusion to the annual series that began right after the Second World War.

The evening will open with the Bracebridge School of Ballet at 7:30 p.m.
