@ Gravenhurst Library: Reaching out – GPL on the move
Reaching Out at the Gravenhurst Public Library
GRAVENHURST - More and more public libraries are providing services by having staff go out into the communities they serve to offer outreach programs.
GPL is no different in that we provide several outreach programs to the residents of Gravenhurst.
We offer a shut-in service to those who cannot get to the library on their own. We regularly pick up and deliver materials to all of the senior’s residences in Gravenhurst as well as a few private homes.
You don’t have to be a senior to receive this service. If you can’t make it out due to illness or injury, GPL is here to help. This service is provided by a staff member or sometimes a volunteer. Just call the library and one of the staff will assist you.
Our outreach programs also extend to the schools in our area. GPL’s children’s programmers visit KP Manson Public School, BeechgrovePublic School and GravenhurstPublic School once a month where they do story times and provide library books to students.Classes from GPS, GHS and Beechgrove PS also have regularly scheduled monthly visits to the library.
During the summer months you can find our summer programmers reaching out to kids at the Gravenhurst Farmer’s Market with fun-filled story hours and activities, weather permitting. Story hours have shifted from Tuesdays at the library to Wednesdays at the market beginning on Wednesday June 4 and will continue until August 20.
Computer for Beginners Workshops starting June 12
