Waters breaks his ankle campaigning after dog grabs his leg
PARRY SOUND — Dan Waters is in Parry Sound Friday visiting with seniors at Lakeland Nursing Home on Albert Street in the morning and then visiting as many business as possible during the afternoon.
But it’ll be a slow-go for the provincial Liberal candidate as he hobbles around with a broken ankle eight days ago.
He broke it while campaigning in Parry Sound a week ago Thursday.
While visiting a house a dog chased him and when he turned the dog grabbed onto his pant leg, said his campaign office worker Linda Parry said Friday.
And down he went, breaking his right ankle.
Now he has to get help driving around.
So, he says he can’t get to as many doors as he would have liked.
But it’s not keeping him back, he says. The campaign must and will go on.
“We’re off to Parry Sound today and plan to spend the day there.
“The bruising is coming to the top and the swelling is going down.”
He says he’s sorry for not getting to every door, but the doctor told him to stay off of it until June 18th — almost a week after next Thursday’s election — when he will have another xray to check progress.
He provided pictures so voters don’t think he is making excuses.
