Daytime break-ins while owners just slip out

GRAVENHURST/BRACEBRIDGE — The days of smalltown homeowners leaving their doors unlocked while they “slip out for a few minutes” are, sadly, long gone.

Two daytime break-ins Thursday while the homeowners were out for a short time are a reminder to lock your doors and windows — securely — even if you are just leaving for even a few minutes.

Police are investigating the break and enters that happened yesterday.

They say that on June 5 between 10:40 and 11 a.m. a residence on Springwood Crescent in Gravenhurst was broken into while the owners were away for a short time.

The suspect(s) left out the rear door as the owners arrived home, and nothing was reported stolen.

Just about an hour later — between noon and 1 p.m. a residence on Covered Bridge Trail in Bracebridge was broken into while the owners were also away for a short time.

The suspect(s) stole jewelry and some money.
