PC MPP Norm Miller bucks Liberal majority to get re-elected with 15,752 votes

PARRY SOUND-MUSKOKA — Norm Miller is back — in opposition again — only this time of a Liberal majority.

The PC incumbent breezed to another victory with 15,572 votes Thursday night.

With all 220 polls counted – for 38,702 total votes – he topped Liberal Dan Waters, who had 10,177 votes.

Green Party candidate Matt Richter polled 7,484; while the NDP’s Clyde Mobbley came in fourth at 4,993.

Freedom Party candidate Andy Stivrins finished last with 296 votes.

Miller grabbed 40.7 per cent of the votes, Waters 26.3, Richter 19.34, Mobbley 12.9 and Stivrins 0.76 per cent.

While Miller’s numbers were down considerably compared to the last election in 2011, Richter’s numbers rose as much as Miller went down – almost doubling for the Greens.

In 2011 Miller won with 19,417 votes, Cindy Waters (Dan’s wife) has 6,537 and the NDP’s Zyganiuk was just behind at 6,527 and Richter finished last with 3,251.
