Group home counseller charged with ‘repeated’ assaults on resident

BRACEBRIDGE – A Huntsville residential care giver has been charged with “repeated assaults” in a group home in the Bracebridge areas.

Police say that the OPP from the Bracebridge detachment and the Muskoka Crime Unit investigated a physical assault in the local group home.

They say that on May 14, 2013, the OPP were called to investigate a case of repeated assault in a group home.

A residential counsellor at the group home was observed physically assaulting her clients in the group home, while employed to take care of them, report police.

Denise Mallia, 54, of Huntsville has been charged with 4 counts of assault.

She was to appear in Bracebridge Court Friday to being answering the charges.
