Huntsville man dies in head-on collision on Hwy. 60

HUNTSVILLE A Huntsville man has died after a head-on collision on Hwy. 60 west of town Wednesday afternoon.

Police say that just before 2:30 p.m. the OPP were called to a serious motor vehicle collision near Grassmere Lake Road.

Their initial investigation found that a Ford Escape with two occupants was travelling westbound and a Subaru was heading eastbound on Highway 60 struck head-on, causing the Subaru to go into the ditch on the south side of the road.

The two occupants of the Escape were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Subaru, a 66 year-old male from Huntsville was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit has attended to assist in the investigation. 

Highway was closed during their investigation.
