Wigston new Gravenhurst Rotary Club president
GRAVENHURST — The Rotary Club of Gravenhurst welcomes a new President for the 2014/15 year.
Under the leadership of Mark Wigston the club anticipates continuing with their many local and international projects plus creating new incentives and fundraisers in our efforts to “give backm” says publicity chair Barb McCabe.
After a successful recent membership recruitment night last week, she said: “We look forward to a great year.”
Wigston, who took over in June, is the owner of Muskoka Graphics.
And “as we welcome Mark to the head table we thank our past president, Theresa Morley, for her leadership in our year just ending.”
Under her guidance our club has been able to add new projects while still maintaining our ongoing commitments.
“Thank you, Theresa.”
And at another recent club meeting in June, the Rotary Club of Gravenhurst recognized three outstanding students from GravenhurstHigh School as students of the month for March , April and May.
Club honours GHS students
Ashley Williams was selected for her positive contributions to the classroom dynamics and GHS climate. She takes on a leadership role, using her patience and support of her fellow students. Ahsley leads by example as she volunteers her own opinions during class and also offers a smile and an understanding nod during discussions. Ashley is a member of the Gryphon Athletic Association and recently attended the TLDSB Arts Camp. Congratulations, Ashley
Nick Sluyk was nominated for his fantastic wholehearted participation in school activities. He always buys into spirit days, often to the extreme and brings a friendly smile and an enthusiastic hello for everyone he passes in the halls. Nick was indispensible in the drama department. He is an energetic improviser who has taken a significant leadership role with mentoring, scheduling and communicating about practices and fundraisers. Congratulations, Nick
Emily Hachmer is a wonderful example of an all-around model Grade 9 student, and thus was chosen as student of the month. She is pleasant, positive and brings a smile and a great sense of humour to all things in which she is involved. Her interests this year have included the cross-country team, helping out at Grade 8 night, representing the badminton team at GBSSA and being a very involved member of the drama club. Her dedication to classwork and making sure she is caught up after being absent is exemplary. Congratulations, Emily.
