Armed robbery attempt in Bracebridge sees man leave empty-handed

BRACEBRIDGE – A wouldbe robber left empty-handed from a ice cream store after an attempted robbery with a knife Saturday.

The OPP of say that on August 16, 2014 at 12:10 p.m. Bracebridge OPP members responded to the Ice Cream Shoppe on Manitoba Street, in the town of Bracebridge.

A male suspect had entered the store and demanded money from the employee while holding a knife in his hand.

The employee backed away from the suspect and the suspect immediately fled on foot.

There were no injuries to anyone involved and there was no money taken by the suspect.

The area was searched by police and the suspect was not located. The Muskoka Crime Unit is currently investigating the incident. The OPP is asking for any information regarding this crime to be provided to police by calling 705-645-2211 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.

The male suspect is described as wearing a grey/black baggy hooded sweatshirt, with a black covering over his face, he is approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 inches tall with a stocky build.

This investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP at (705) 645-2211 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
