Police dog sniffs out kids who stole candy, pop from ball field snack bar in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLEWith the help of a police dog, three youth have been charged with break and enter and theft of candy and beverages were stolen from a sports field snack bar.

Provincial police say that on Friday, June 2, just before 1 a.m. the OPP was notified of an intrusion alarm at the snack bar between the baseball diamonds at McCulley-Robertson Sports Complex.

Officers responded and confirmed a break and enter into the building.

A substantial amount of snacks and beverages had been taken.

Police patrolled the area looking for the culprits with negative results.

The Muskoka Canine and Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended and as a result of their efforts three males were arrested for the offences in relation to the break and enter. 

Two 16 year-olds and one 17-year-old have since been charged with break, enter and theft under $5,000 under the Criminal Code of Canada.

The three cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. They will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Huntsville on July 4, 2017 to answer to their charges.
