Starting Tuesday July 11, the transportation service will be running under a soft test phase throughout the Town with its 30-minute loop, offering riders transportation within 27 scheduled stops, and free throughout the months of July and August. (See map and route stops below.)

“Ideally riders will be able to access this transportation alternative to grocery stores, pharmacies, their doctor’s office, Muskoka Wharf and other points of interest throughout the urban centre,” said Scott Lucas, director of development services.

On Tuesday July 18, following a full week of service to the public, The Loop Transit System will officially launch with a short ceremony and ribbon cutting to take place at the Gravenhurst town hall beginning at 11 am.

Mayor Donaldson, councillors and representatives from The District of Muskoka and Hammond Transportation will take part to officially introduce the pilot project to the community.

‘The Loop’ will utilize the Highway 11 Corridor Bus between the hours of 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and provide users with an affordable means to move throughout the Town.  The pilot project will run for the remainder of the year and provide a two month “free trial’ before adapting a $2 fee per ride.

“During this test phase we hope to learn as much about this service and the transportation needs of our community as possible, to make this a viable and a positive experience for users,” said Scott Lucas, director of development services.

Route schedules and maps will be available at a variety of locations in Town. “We are also encouraging the public to visit to find out more information and participate in a short user service to help us make further improvement,” added Lucas.
