Muskoka To-DAILY

Gary and Gayle’s Muskoka Chautauqua starts busy summer with big bang at Minett Marriott

MINETT — Gayle Dempsey and Gary Froude are off to another summer-packed Muskoka Chautauqua season.

The Port Carling arts entrepreneurs are back with two months of activities that keeps the Chautauqua tradition alive.

They say in a release this week that their summer began splattered in paint and raindrops at Cleveland’s House on July 1st for Muskoka Chautauqua as children and adults alike gathered to paint murals and quilts in honour of Canada’s sesquicentennial celebrations in Minett.

Thanks to the support of Celebrate Canada, the Township of Muskoka Lakes, Cleveland’s House, the JW Marriott and other community partners, Muskoka Chautauqua was able to provide a celebratory fireworks show on the lake that evening.

Several local culinary artists, sommeliers and brewmasters joined together with Muskoka Chautauqua to present Flavours of Muskoka Chautauqua, an annual findraiser in support of the arts in Muskoka. The event took place on July 6th at the JW Marriott Resort & Spa in Minett. The ballroom was overflowing with smiling vendors and guests, there to sample some of Muskoka and Ontario’s finest culinary treasures.  The event has been raising funds for Muskoka Chautauqua for almost 20 years, and Muskoka Chautauqua thanks all of its generous supporters.
