Muskoka To-DAILY

Walker’s Point 150 Heritage Days July 15-16

WALKER’S POINT – Folks in Walker’s Point are polishing the bell and putting resin on their bows for the annual July shin-dig at the community centre/library/fire hall.

So say Pat Young and Adele Fairfield who send along a couple of posters highlighting two days of summer celebration that begin Saturday and continue Sunday.

wpcc (Small)Day 1 is jam-packed with the pioneer spirit that settled the Muskoka Lakes when Canada was just one – not 150.

There’s a Dixieland band, a pioneer camp featuring pole climbing, hatchet-throwing and archery demonstrations. There’s the old post office, community archives, car, boat and snowmobile displays.

A highlight is 2 p.m. when they will ring the old school bell they’ve revived.

Day 2 is dedicated to ‘Old Time Western Music,’ featuring the Country Memories Band.

Come and dance, admission $10

It’s all at the Walker’s Point Community Centre, 1074 Walker’s Point Rd., off Hwy. 169 between Gravenhurst and Bala.
