Muskoka To-DAILY

MNRF reminds everyone to beware of water conditions this weekend with more rain

PARRY SOUND-MUSKOKA — The MNRF has issued a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety bulletin early Friday afternoon for the District Municipality of Muskoka.

They warn residents in the Parry Sound-Muskoka area to keep a close watch on conditions and exercise caution around water bodies as flows and levels within rivers and streams remain higher than normal for this time of year.

MNRF also advises extreme caution when using forest access roads for outdoor activities, as many are seasonally inundated with water, prone to washouts and may be impassible due to current water levels.

MNRF is closely monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions.

They say further updates will be issued as appropriate.

Description of Weather System

This message is being sent based on information received from MNRF – Surface Water Monitoring Centre, MNRF – Aviation Forest Fire and Emergency Management Services and Environment Canada.

A series of low pressure systems are tracking through the province, intermittently, through to Sunday. This weather pattern results unsettled weather conditions in the province and is likely to bring rain and thunderstorm for portions of the district through this period and beyond.

Unsettled conditions will persist intermittently through the weekend with a risk of thunderstorms anywhere in areas covered under this message.

A close watch on local conditions and weather forecasts from Environment Canada is recommended.
