Motorcyclist dies Saturday afternoon in West Gravenhurst in collision with minivan

GRAVENHURST — A motorcyclist died late Saturday afternoon in West Gravenhurst when he was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

Provincial police, paramedics and firefighter raced to the two-vehicle accident on Muskoka Road 169, near Readman Road, in Gravenhurst, just after 6 p.m. this evening, July 15

The collision involved a minivan and the motorcycle.

Muskoka EMS responded quickly to the collision scene and the male party operating the motorcycle was transported to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No one else was injured and the identification of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the next-of-kin.

Muskoka Road 169 was closed in both directions for the investigation, while traffic was rerouted onto Musquash Road.

Two motorcyclists also died on Highway 118 in Haliburton Saturday.

The Haliurton OPP investigation revealed a Chrysler PT Cruiser was travelling eastbound when it crossed the center line and collided with four of seven motorcycles travelling westbound on Highway 118.

The male driver of the PT Cruiser sustained minor injuries.

As a result of the collision two persons received fatal injuries and two other persons received serious life threatening injuries.

The deceased riders of the motorcycles were identified as 52-year-old George Eliadis and 42-year-old Shari Williams, both from Uxbridge,
